The seventh annual quiz was, once again, held in the hall at Groombridge St Thomas' School. Altogether the evening raised £878, a wonderful total which will be added to the money to be sent to Aquinoe at the beginning of December.

Looking well ahead towards the end of the year, the venue for the annual quiz has been arranged. For those of you in the Tonbridge/Tunbridge Wells area, do think about making up a team and coming along to pit your wits against such teams as the Sextetes or the Wooden Spoons. I think everybody has fun as many of the competitors come back year after year.

Due to Jean's coming "retirement" trip to the other side of the world, the quiz was held much earlier this year. The venue was a new one - St Thomas' Primary School in Groombridge. Although the weather was dreadful, ten teams turned out and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.

Many people had donated prizes to the raffle, and we offer our thanks for these gifts. The raffle was well supported £171 was raised through the sale of tickets.

The quiz, which took place at Pembury Hospital social club again this year, on 11th November, raised over £600 for the Aquinoe Learning Centre Charitable Trust.


	Great Expectations

Sixteen teams participated, an increase of three over the number that took part last year, so the room was really packed. Most of the teams were made up of fairly local inhabitants within a twenty kilometre radius, but some people also came from further afield - Orpington, Fulham, the Epsom area, Reading and Perth in Scotland!

The annual quiz was once again held, free of charge, at Groombridge St Thomas' Primary School, where a total of £500 was made for Aquinoe Learning Centre.

The weather was atrocious again, with high winds and driving rain. Despite this, a goodly crowd turned out to support the charity with nine teams vying for the number one position.

The winning team was the Sextêtes, although there were three or four teams in with a shout until the penultimate round.

Once again the raffle raised over £100 and we would like to thank everybody who so kindly donated prizes.

Tina had some new bags from her collection on show and took orders worth £96.

The quiz, which has become an annual event, was again a great success.


	Team warm up

It took place on November 24th at the Teen and Twenty Club in Tonbridge. This was a new venue, as the Social Club at Pembury Hospital had been closed in January 2007 in case the plans for the new hospital, which had been in the system for many years, were approved. In the event, building has still not begun!

This year a total of thirteen teams entered. There were several unusual rounds, like "Myth and Fairytale", "Districts of Kent" and "Signs of the Zodiac", which the participants seemed to enjoy.

We’d all attended quizzes as competitors, but this was the first time we had actually planned and run one ourselves. The preparation was very time-consuming, as we wanted some innovative and varied rounds, rather than taking all of the questions from the Internet. There was also a fine line between making the questions hard enough to be challenging, but not so hard as to be discouraging.
