It started whilst Linda and Chris were on holiday in South Africa; a golf colleague said, "Why don't we have a golf day amongst our friends at Dale Hill Golf Club to raise funds for the Aquinoe Learning Centre?" So two and a half months later we have just had that golf day with fifteen golfers taking part and it was judged to have been a resounding success.
The day started fair and dry but with a gusty wind and in testing conditions David Cowell did well to win with 38 points, 5 points clear of his nearest rival, who was Bob Marshall. Interestingly, penalties for bunker shots raised more than £50 although it must be said that some players decided to 'pre-book' 10 penalties, at 50p per shot rather than potentially pay more after the round.
The golf was followed by an all-day breakfast in the club house and a raffle which contributed £40. The day raised a fantastic total of £191.00 and was enjoyed by all taking part with some saying that it should become an annual event.
