Jeremiah lives with his grandfather.

Jeremiah comes from a peasant family and his parents separated because of his condition.

He has albinism which affects not only his skin and hair but also his eyes.  Jeremiah has poor sight and wears glasses.  He also has an aversion to strong sunlight so needs to wear a hat.
