Search Press, a publishing company specialising in fine art, textiles, general crafts and children’s craft books, not only offered to donate books to the Aquinoe Learning Centre but invited the trustees to visit their premises in High Brooms, near Tunbridge Wells, to choose the books they wanted to send. Some of the books about sewing, knitting and crotchet will be used in the tailoring department. Others, concentrating on art and drawing will be of use more generally.
In addition to this, we were given the choice another array of books to raise money in this country to sell or give as prizes.
We know from experience how expensive it can be to send heavy books to Kenya and Caroline de la Bedoyere, director of the company, agreed to investigate whether transportation could be organised. She did this through Roger Hutchinson at Magnum Book Services and the books have now arrived at the school.
The trustees are very grateful to Caroline and Martin of Search Press and Roger of Magnum Group for their generosity in providing the books for Aquinoe and the means to transport them.
