The latest building to be funded by the charity is a dormitory for the youngest children who have, up until now either shared with the older children or slept in an old classroom.
The location chosen was adjoining the current girls’ dormitory and it had been hoped that Tina would lay the foundation stone during the trustees’ visit in May 2010. In the event, there had been so much rain that it had been impossible for the bricks, produced locally to order, to be transported from the river to the school so the laying of the foundations was delayed.
The building is now virtually complete. The floor needs to be tiled and the interior furnished. The money for the former will be sent from general funds, while furnishing will be completed with a grant donated by Trinity Hall, Cambridge. The next money transfer will be sent within the next few weeks.
